Space
Lovely 1951 brick home merges 1940s detailing like crown moldings and fireplace (decorative only) with 1950s spaciousness. The large living room is warmed by the unique artwork, loaded bookshelves and a (working!) upright piano. This will quickly become your favorite room to relax.
The dining room is also graced by gorgeous art, including the table from local craftsman Steve Peters. You should make use of the funky bar cart during your stay! Dining room doubles as a work-from-home space.
East facing sun room captures the morning light – a perfect place to relax with your morning coffee, or wind down with a cocktail. There’s a sleeper sofa in here as well, so we can host up to 5 guests.
Bedrooms include one king & one queen, both in light-filled rooms. The larger bedroom includes a desk, creating a private workspace. The bathroom is a classic of the era, with a porcelain tub and vintage tilework.
Spacious kitchen has all the tools you need to make a 4 course meal, or simply reheat your leftovers from one of our MANY fantastic restaurants. Be sure to check out the custom backsplash!
Laundry room is just off the kitchen, with new front-loading washer & dryer.
The backyard includes 2 gathering spaces in the luscious garden where you can sit around the fire pit or dine al fresco. You also get to make friends with my chickens! Although you have no responsibilities here – my neighbors’ kids take care of them and collect the eggs.
Ideal guests are adults who are in town for a work assignment, long vacation or have a home renovation that requires temporary relocation. We prioritize stays of 1+ months.
We are Delighted Properties, because that is how we want you to feel when you walk in the door. The Bull City is our home and we want to share it with you, through personal recommendations and the items & services we provide throughout your space. Look for all the local products we include (and ask us where you can find them for yourself!)
We take great care in creating a comfortable, home-but-better experience for your stay – we hope you’ll Be Delighted!
Neighborhood
Old North Durham is one of the original Downtown Durham neighborhoods. With generous yards and gardens, you’ll feel removed from the hustle and bustle, even though you’re only a few blocks from the center of the action. You’re only a few blocks from award-winning Cocoa Cinnamon, Geer St. Garden, Full Steam Brewery, Motorco, Durty Bull Brewery, Corpse Reviver and the Blue Note with live music. Walk to the Farmer’s Market on Saturday, jog to East Campus, or take yourself on a progressive food tour through downtown and back! You will feel far from the bustle, but you can’t find a better location to relax between activities.
Access
You’ll have the entire home and property to yourself, including covered off-street parking for 1 car.
Interaction
This is my home when I’m in Durham – so if you’re staying at the house, I’m out of town! Our friend Emily takes care of the place while I’m gone gone – your communication will be with her and she lives around the corner if you need anything.

Notes
As stated in the house rules, there is an automatic minimum $250 service fee for any violations of house rules that require additional cleaning and/or cause damage. This is my home home. I have tried to make it comfortable for myself and consequently for you! We have been thoughtful in the amenities provided. We appreciate you for exercising the same level of thought and care when staying here.
While we are happy to host families, please note that the house is not “child-proofed,” nor do we provide any child-focused amenities (no crib, pack-n-play, high chair, etc). We expect children will be sufficiently well-mannered not do damage books, artwork and other items in the home.
We do ask that guests are relatively quiet after 10 PM, as a courtesy to neighbors. Parties and loud groups are not permitted. Thanks for helping us be good neighbors.
Smoking or vaping of any substances is not permitted on the property.
No pets, please. We request no service animals either: they may be well trained, but they still have fur and dander and trigger allergies.
Due to the ongoing pandemic, guests are expected to abide by CDC/WHO guidelines, as well as all North Carolina and Durham Covid-19 guidelines. Full up-to-date orders can be seen at ncdotgov.
